The IBPS RRB PO exam takes place in two stages: The first stage is the Preliminary exam and the second stage is the Main exam.

Quantitative Aptitude: This exam consists Number Series, Simplification/Approximation, Data Interpretation, Time and Work, Time, Speed and Distance, Profit and Loss and Simple and Compound Interest

Reasoning Ability: Coding Decoding, Alphanumeric Series, Blood Relations, Inequality, Syllogism, Puzzles and Seating Arrangement

English Language: Cloze Test, Error Spotting, Phrase Replacement/ Sentence Correction, Fill in the Blank and Reading Comprehension. 

Main Exam:

Quantitative Aptitude: Quadratic Equations, Data Interpretation, Number Series, Profit and Loss, Speed and Distance, Simplification/Approximation, Time,  Simple and Compound Interest and speed and distance

General Awareness: Static GK, Financial Awareness and Current Affair (that are related to banking)

Computer Knowledge: History of Computers, Computer Abbreviation, Basic Computer Concepts, Internet Basics, Operating systems and Microsoft Office

English Language: Fill in the Blank, cloze test, Phrase replacement/ Sentence Correction, Error Detection and Reading Comprehension

Exam Pattern of IBPS RRB PO Exam

As you already know there are two stages of the IBPS RRB PO exam. The exam pattern for both stages is given in the following:

Preliminary Exam: 

  • It is conducted online and consists of objective-type questions
  • This exam comprises two sections: Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning Ability
  • Examination Time is 45 Minutes
  • Total number of questions present in this examination is 80 (Each section consist 40 questions)
  • Correct answer carries one mark and there is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer
  • The minimum qualifying marks for each section and the overall cut off marks are set by IBPS and may vary based on the difficulty level of the exam and the number of candidates appearing for the exam. 

Main Exam:

  • This examination is also conducted online and contains objective type questions
  • It consist of five sections: Quantitative Aptitude, General Awareness, Computer Knowledge, English Language and Reasoning Ability
  • The Duration of this exam is 2 hours
  • Each correct answer carries one mark and negative mark for each wrong answer is 0.25 marks
  • The minimum qualifying marks for each section and overall cut off marks  are set according to the difficulty level of the exam and the number of candidates appearing in the examination  

 

Note: Once the aspirant clears both stages the candidates have to appear for an interview round. The final selection is done on the basis of candidate's  performance in the main and the interview round.
